Alumni

The Royal Latin has a friendly and dynamic alumni network, and we are keen to hear from all former pupils, or ‘Old Latins’ as we affectionately refer to you, whether you left last year or a little further back!  We are passionate about involving alumni in the life of the school and regularly host archive events, visits and, careers talks and reunions.

We’re also working hard to reconnect Old Latins with each other and with your old teachers through our brilliant online community, ‘RLS Connect’, where you can also join groups, find out about events, share memories, and access our online archive. It’s free to join your fellow Old Latins online – just click here.

Twice a year, we bring you Latin Life, the magazine for Old Latins, full of news from the school and from alumni, images from the archive, memories and reflections as well as dates for forthcoming events and reunions. We’ll email Latin Life directly to your inbox for you to enjoy. You’ll automatically receive it once you join RLS Connect – or you can email us at latinlife@royallatin.org and we’ll add your details to our mailing list, so that you can receive new editions along with a monthly e-newsletter. You can read the previous editions here.

The Royal Latin celebrated its 600th Anniversary in 2023! This momentous milestone – which makes the Royal Latin the 100th oldest surviving educational institution in the world – was marked by a programme of exciting events and activities to celebrate our heritage and pay tribute to our founders, our school and our community. You can visit our 600th Anniversary pages to see event photo galleries, explore our interactive timeline to learn about our history, watch our anniversary video and much more:

The Archive is located in the Wagland Room in Rotherfield House. We hold an annual Archive Open Day in May – this year on Wednesday, 1st May 2024, 4pm-6pm, but the archive is also open by appointment all year round in term-time, and for regular browsing sessions. If you would like to arrange to come and browse the archive or have any documents or items you would like to donate, please do get in touch.

Our digital archive is also now available – a special collection of items from our physical archive that we can share with Old Latins all around the world. It contains hundreds of photographs, school magazines and event programmes and is fully searchable, so you can have great fund looking for mentions of your friends and teachers (and yourself!)

Click here to access the digital archive – it’s password-protected to keep it secure, so you’ll need to sign up to RLS Connect to gain access.

We’re keen to host events for Old Latins, both at the school and elsewhere. During 2024 we have lectures, an art show, archive drop-in sessions and meet-ups and of course, our annual archive day. You can find our 2024 event calendar and booking details on our events page. If you have ideas for events you’d like us to organise for alumni, please let us know! We’re also very happy to help you plan a reunion for your form or year group, so please do contact us if you want to book a reunion date in the year ahead.

We love Old Latins to get involved in school life today, whether through volunteering, sharing expertise or donating to the school. Please click on the Get Involved link below. Thank you!

Please get in touch to say hello, book a visit or find out more about how you can reconnect with your old school. Just contact Alex O’Donnell or Lucy Beckett in the Development Office at latinlife@royallatin.org, or write to us at the Royal Latin School, Chandos Road, Buckingham, MK18 1AX. We look forward to hearing from you!
