Individual Philanthropy

The Role of Philanthropy

Philanthropy has played a pivotal role at various stages in The Royal Latin School’s long history, and the 600 Campaign is bringing that tradition to life once more.

A number of individuals, whether personally, through a charitable trust or via a company, have made transformative gifts either to the Discovery Centre or to the Sports Campus.

How does it work?

If you think you would like to make a philanthropic gift to the school, the first step is to get in touch. We will then work with you over a period of time in order to determine which elements of the project particularly interest you, and develop a gift proposal detailing the impact of gifts of varying amounts. We’ll discuss the various ways in which you might like to be recognised for your generosity (including the potential for naming opportunities), and advise you (or work with your advisors) about how to give a gift tax effectively. Gifts can be made entirely anonymously if preferred.

Introducing one of our benefactors

Julian Thomas, Class of 1987, made a gift of £100,000 to the Discovery Centre during the first phase of the 600 Campaign, and made an equal donation to the Sports Campus campaign enabling us to include a Sports Lab and Classroom as part of the building.

If you would like to request a meeting or open a discussion about playing a philanthropic role in the Sports Campus project, please email Alexandra O’Donnell, RLS Director of Development at aodonnell@royallatin.org or telephone 01280 827309. All conversations can be kept strictly confidential.
